General info:
Oroklini Downhill Race will be the first ever downhill race taking place in Cyprus in a proper mini-Donwhill track build at Oroklini mountain.
The course is located at the mountain next to Oroklini village in Larnaca, Cyprus. The course starts from the highest point and ends at the foot-steps of the mountain.
It is a small but nice track which challenges every rider by testing his abilities through jumps, berms, drops, rock gardens and other obstacles.
There will be alternative routes which will overpass the obstacles and will be used from those who do not feel confident to attempt the jumps and the drops.
TIMETABLE
08:00- 09:30 - Registration
09:45 - 10:00 - Briefing of athletes
10:00 - 10:30 - Official observation of the course (on foot)
10:30 - 11:50 - Official Training
12:30 - onwards - Race
(the timetable will be strictly followed so those who intent to race come early to register).
Categories:
a) 15-17 years old (they will race in the easier track - all big drops and jumps are excluded from the track)
b) Elite men (they will race in the proper track)
c) Elite women (18 +)
Official observation of the course:
Prior to course training there will be official observation of the course. All participants must walk the track with the commissaire and observe all parts of it before they start training. Anyone who fails to attend official observation he/she will not be allowed to race.
All non-adults must be escorted from their parent or legal guardian during official training and when the observation will be over, the parent or legal guarding will sing a declaration form that he/she observed the course and that he/she allows his/her son to participate.
Gear needed in order to be allowed to race:
a) Full Face (Monoblock not the ones that have detachable face protection)
b) Knee guards
c) Elbow guards
d) Eye protection - either cycling glasses (plastic frame) or Goggles.
It is also suggest - but is not necessary to wear - :
a) Full Body armour
b) Shin guards
c) Leatt Brace
d) Gloves
e) Armour underpants
Other requirements needed in order to be able to race:
a) Age of participation 15 and over. Participant who are 15-17 years old, must be accompained from their parent or legal guardian. An I.D. or other official documentation that shows your age must be showned during registration.
b) Proof of good medical condition. Check yourself to a doctor and bring a declaration form, signed from the doctor, which will declare that your physical condition is good and you are able to race.
c) Everyone is obliged either to bring a copy of an insurance that covers his/her medical expenses, death or permanent disability from an accident from bicycle use or you must obtain a day insurance at the price of 25 euro, available during registration on the day of the race.
d) Registration fee which will be 15 euro. The last day of the inscription is the 11th of April. Anyone failing to inform his/her intention to participate at the event prior the 11th of April 2010 there will a penalty of 10 euro at the registration. e) Participation for this year is only open to Cypriots and people who reside in Cyprus (British Sovereign Base Areas are included).
If you comply with the above requirements a day license will be issued to you, on the day of the race, from Cyprus Cycling Federation, that you are allowed to participate at the event.
THERE WILL BE A TOILET FACILITY NEAR THE RACE VENUE
